Swedish PCB production no longer profitable. The perception is Multi-Teknik´s and therefore, management has decided to add production in the Old City, Gothenburg mothballed. Instead, the company now is to concentrate even more on trading operations.
"After several years of successful and growing trading operation, we have gradually minimized production in Gothenburg. While we have built strong relationships with suppliers worldwide. Especially in China where we have a strong foothold in our Chinese companies, Multi-Teknik ShenZhen Office. There we handle supplier assessments, logistics, etc. according to procedures that have evolved over 32 years of PCB production, "states Patrik Johansson, CEO Multi-Teknik.
"That we already in 1985 began to trade with Asian suppliers, few people know. We have carefully followed the countries we work with over many years and all precautions had this trade gradually increased. We have been through hard shift work have managed to maintain and enhance our growth "continues Patrik Johansson.
In the second quarter, order bookings increased by 46%. The factory in Gothenburg has only served as a backup during the past nine months, and so the Multi-Teknik is now the ability to add production in mothballs. "This gives us a unique opportunity to upgrade our processes and machinery for sale or transfer to other production units. Even today the acquisition of competing businesses are not excluded," says Patrik Johansson.
In doing so, three members of the production has been terminated due to redundancy, while other spring retrained within CAM and customer support.
"Our ambition has been to the extensive production knowledge remains within the company as far as possible," concludes Patrik Johansson. CAM preparation, Swedish quality control, customer support and delivery times, etc. work as before.
